Sound
Blowing into the pot or moving liquid from one chamber to another
Contemporary Cambridge, the sound is short.
This pot makes a whistling sound when the spout it is blown into. This sound is high pitched, with little variation in tone. When liquid is poured into it and the pot is tipped, the moving liquid makes the sound of a bird call, an intermittent sound at a different pitch to the whistle. Link to a video of this pot being played by MAA Senior Curator in World Archaeology Jimena Lobo Guerrero Arenas. Initially Jimena blows into the pot to make it whistle. Then she pours in water to try to make the bird sound. Eventually the pot produces a bird-like chirp at 4 minutes 4 seconds.
